Aurora eliminate Tundra as Xtreme Gaming’s TI hopes grow uncertain at DreamLeague Season 29Aurora Gaming are still alive at DreamLeague Season 29 after sweeping Tundra Esports in the lower bracket semifinals.
DreamLeague Season 29 ’s playoff bracket continued to shape the TI invite conversation on Friday as Aurora Gaming advanced deeper into the lower bracket while both Tundra Esports and Xtreme Gaming saw their tournament runs end.
For Xtreme Gaming, the elimination may carry the heaviest consequences.
Coming into the tournament, Xtreme already hovered near the edge of the projected TI invite threshold. Many believed they needed a significantly deeper playoff run to solidify their standing, and this early exit leaves their position looking increasingly fragile. According to s tatistical projections and TI invite modeling from Ben “Noxville” Steenhuisen Xtreme remain among the teams trapped around the uncertain cutoff line.
There is still a path forward. If Valve once again opts for eight direct invites instead of six — especially with TI taking place in China this year — Xtreme Gaming could still benefit from regional representation and their overall body of work throughout the season. But unlike some of the safer contenders, their fate no longer feels fully within their control.
Aurora Gaming;s invite, meanwhile, looks far more secure.
Despite not winning a Tier 1 event this season, the roster’s consistency has quietly built one of the stronger resumes outside the absolute elite. Two runner-up finishes, steady placements throughout the year, and an impressive Glicko-2 rating strengthens their argument. Their 2–0 sweep over Tundra only added more weight to it and advances them forward for at least a top 4 finish at DreamLeague.
As for Tundra, the elimination feels far less alarming. While the roster has looked shakier periodically than fans are accustomed to seeing, they remain one of the strongest and most established teams in the competitive landscape. A few uneven tournament performances are unlikely to jeopardize their eventual TI invitation.
Aurora, however, still have work left to do. The team continues their lower bracket run later today at 19:00 CEST against the winner of Playtime vs Falcons .
